Onshore wind farms are constantly exposed to salt and moisture, resulting in rapid failure of standard fastener. When zinc coating screws degrade, they lead to poor turbine safety and maintenance. We explain the phenomenon of galvanic corrosion in marine environments and why traditional coating is inadequate. We discuss good alternatives, such as hot-dip galvanizing and duplex that have years of protection. We show how a correct fastener specification, based on ISO 9001 standards, can avoid catastrophic failures and guarantee the lifetime of renewable energy. Find a proper solution for your future work.
